Spiced Apple Cider Martini

Spiced Apple Cider Martini

1 gallon unfiltered apple cider

2 oranges, quartered and juiced

4 cinnamon sticks

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon whole cloves or 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon allspice berries or 1 teaspoon ground allspice

3-4 star anise

1 vanilla bean, sliced in half or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (added after simmering)

1/2 cup sugar, optional

Bring cider and spices to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

You can drink this cold or hot for a non-alcoholic drink. For the non-alcoholic version, I love to garnish this with whipped cream, a slice of apple and a drizzle of caramel. You will always find this in the fridge during the winter at our house. We love it warmed up!

For Each Martini:

1 ounce apple-flavored vodka

1/2 ounce apple sour

1/2 ounce caramel vodka, optional

4 ounces chilled apple cider

For the Rim:

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix all liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to combine. Dampen the rim of the glass with caramel sauce or rub an orange on the rim. Roll the rim of the glass in the cinnamon sugar mix. Strain cocktail into martini glass. Garnish with a slice of apple.

This really is a great drink that hits all the wonderful spice notes of the fall season!
