Fun Things to Do in Henderson for the Holiday Season

As the chill in the air becomes persistent and colorful lights show up on houses, the holiday season officially comes to the Green Valley area. It’s not hard to get into the holiday spirit when it’s all around you, and the Green Valley community certainly knows how to spread the holiday cheer. With an abundance of fun family activities to choose from, we decided to take a look at a few must-sees for you to enjoy with your family this season.

WinterFest: Dazzling Desert Holiday

Located on Water Street, join the city of Henderson for a fun-filled weekend holiday event on December 8 and 9 with free admission for everyone. This year’s theme is Dazzling Desert Holiday, and there will be many fun events for families to participate in. Start the weekend with the dazzling tree-lighting ceremony with Santa. Do some holiday shopping from a variety of craft vendors and enjoy live entertainment, a Ferris wheel, a carousel and the festive evening light parade. This event pulls the community together for the holiday season.

Galleria at Sunset

Of course, the Galleria at Sunset is a great place to go shopping this holiday season, but it also has an amazing festive atmosphere that will put everyone in the holiday spirit. Young families can pay a visit to Santa Claus and enjoy the beautifully lit Christmas tree and festive snowflake decorations hanging from the ceiling. Visiting the Galleria this holiday season will brighten your spirits.

The District at Green Valley Ranch

The District at Green Valley Ranch has a number of great stores for you to find all the holiday gifts you need for your loved ones, but shopping isn’t the only thing the district offers. The district hosts a grand menorah lighting to celebrate Hannukah. With live entertainment, treats, dreidels and a raffle, the grand menorah lighting is a wonderful way to celebrate with your family and friends. The district is also decked out for the holidays with beautiful lights, trees and visits with Santa Claus.

Ethel M’s Holiday Cactus Garden

This year, Ethel M Chocolates is celebrating the 24th anniversary of its Holiday Cactus Garden lighting event. Held from November 7 to January 1—and open Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve but closed Christmas Day—the Cactus Garden is the largest in the southern United States and covers more than 3 acres with more than 1 million holiday lights. The event is free to the public and lit nightly from sundown to 10 p.m. Food and toy donations can be made, and all donations support Three Square and HELP of Southern Nevada. This year, there will also be a skating rink, open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with prices varying from $10 to $20. This event is a great activity for families, friends or dates and will put everybody in the holiday mood.
